Hemant Nandanpawar, a distinguished expert in Clean Energy and Climate Action, has been recently honored with Global Gold Award-Climate Change Mitigation, in Dubai. This accolade recognizes his exceptional, long-term contributions to the fields of Clean Energy, Climate Change Mitigation, and Sustainability. Hemant currently serves as Senior Director with the Global Carbon Council (GCC) in Doha, Qatar.
With professional work experience of more than 28 years, spanning more than 30 countries he has extensively worked and contributed for the promotion and implementation of policy, strategy and projects of Energy Efficiency, Renewable Energy, Climate Change and Sustainability. His major contribution includes techno-commercial support for Implementation of several industrial energy efficiency and renewable energy and carbon emission reduction projects, with innovative climate & carbon finance support.
Through his work, he is helping organizations & countries to achieve decarbonization, carbon neutrality and cost effectively achieving the climate targets agreed under the Paris Agreement. Through his relentless efforts, he has been instrumental in promoting low-carbon sustainable growth and combating climate change to mitigate global warming, one of the most critical challenges threatening Earth’s ecosystems.
Hemant’s contributions have earned him numerous accolades, including the DSK Renewable Energy Award from the Institution of Engineers India (2006), the Government of Maharashtra Award for Excellence in Energy Management (2007), and the Global Green Leadership Award from WCSRD (2018). Additionally, he has served as an expert member of the International CDM Methodologies Panel (MP) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Bonn, Germany.
Hemant has held key positions with prominent organizations, including Ernst & Young (EY) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB), where he worked with diplomatic status. An Industrial Engineering graduate from RCOEM-Nagpur University, Hemant also holds advanced master’s qualifications in Energy Technology (MTech), Finance Management (MBA), and Sustainable Business from the University of Cambridge-UK.
