In a remarkable act of kindness, the family of a 25-year-old patient, who tragically lost his life after a fall resulting in severe head injuries, made the life-saving decision to donate his organs. Through their generosity, five lives were transformed, including a 49-year-old liver recipient and a kidney recipient from Nashik. Sahyadri Super Speciality Hospital, Nashikโs expert medical teams, led by Dr. Bipin Vibhute and specialists from its transplant departments, performed these complex procedures. The remaining donated kidney and corneas were sent to other hospitals and eye banks, further extending the gift of life. Rahulโs family expressed comfort in knowing that his legacy continues through this selfless act.
The liver was successfully transplanted to a 49-year-old patient diagnosed with Decompensated Chronic Liver Disease. The complex procedure was conducted by the expert team led by Dr. Bipin Vibhute, Head of the Liver & Multi-organ Transplant Department at Sahyadri Hospitals, along with Dr. Apurv Deshpande, Transplant Surgeon and Dr. Manoj Kumar Raut, Anaesthetist, Dr Vikas Chaudhary and Rahul Tambe, Transplant cordinator.
The patientโs kidneys were also donated. One kidney was successfully transplanted to Rashmi Joshi (name changed) from Nashik, who was suffering from Chronic Kidney Disease. This life-saving surgery was performed by Dr. Pranav Chhajjed, Surgeon, Dr Prakash Ugale, nephrologist along with CVTS Team at Sahyadri Super Speciality Hospital, Nashik.
The second kidney was donated to a recipient at private hospital in Pune, further extending Rahulโs legacy of giving. Additionally, the donated corneas were sent to an Eye Bank in Nashik, where they will provide the gift of sight to deserving recipients.
