The Leprosy Mission Trust India Vocational Training Centre, in Nashik held its 2nd Convocation Ceremony at the Leprosy Mission Trust India Vocational Training Centre, Nashik.
The convocation was for the students of Batch 20-22 (two year course) and 21-22 (1 year course) .The convocation is a time to celebrate all the hard work that led to the joyful occasion. Coming from backgrounds & families where education is never a part of their existence, for these Special children it’s a huge honor & boost to their confidence.
The Leprosy Mission Trust is the oldest and biggest NGO working for Healing Inclusion and Dignity of persons affected by Leprosy. It was established in 1874, with 14 Hospitals, six Vocational Training Centers, Five Snehalayas (Home for persons affected by Leprosy, who have no home to call their own).

The unit at Nashik was established in 1898 as a home for persons affected by Leprosy which was later converted to a Vocational Training Centre in 1980 .Here VTC provides residential training and placement to 120 young adults free of cost every year The courses offered are Mechanic Diesel, Mechanic Motor Vehicle, Welder, Computer Operator and Programming Assistant, Tailoring, Beautician, Electrician, Printing and more
Speaking on the occasion, Shyla Francis, Principal of the institution said, “This is a proud moment for all of us at VTC. It’s a fulfilling challenge for us. My dear students you are going to enter in to the most trilling period of your life. You did it and are being rewarded for that. Keep trying until you achieve your dreams.”
The Centre’s challenge is to look for young children from far off and remote villages who are affected by Leprosy , dependents of persons affected by Leprosy and persons with other disabilities who are neglected by their families. They are brought to VTC, nurtured, trained, taught and made worthy human beings. Coming from backgrounds where education has no place in their lives the initial struggle is a challenge.
The placements for the students are provided by companies like KIA Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra , Tata Motors , Eicher , Ashok Leyland , Rohan builders to name a few. Mr Dilip Kale , Deputy Engineer , water resource Dept. was the Chief guest . He gave a very motivating and touching talk .Our Alumni Mr Kubendran Naidu who is also the President of our Alumni Association was the guest of Honor.
